Pollockology_No30 (2004)
Ink-jet print on canvas, 266.7 x 525.8 cm
Edition of 5 + 2AP

The work is created by methodically layering various silhouettes of Pollock in the act of painting. The coloured shapes were derived from a series of photographs taken from Hans Namuth's well-known sequence of Pollock working in his studio. The original photgraphs were documenting Jackson Pollock painting the work No30 (Autumn Rhythm).

The quick, intuitive gestures of the original painting are replaced by a slow and deliberate digital process or 'digital gesture' to recreate the 'action painting' No30 (Autumn Rhythm).
